We have embarked upon a bold initiative to transform a traditional healthcare system into an integrated academic clinic model with emphasis on research and subspeciality training, and we are excited to assertively expand our commitment to medical education and research with the establishment of our new medical school and research institute in collaboration with Virginia Tech -- The Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine (VTCSOM) and Fralin Biomedical Research Institute (FBRI). Located in Roanoke, Virginia on our hospital campus, Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine welcomed its inaugural class August 2010 and graduated its first doctoral class May 2014.
