You will responsible for handling urgent and emergent foot and ankle conditions during standard clinic hours and outside of standard clinic hours. You will be required to manage both soft-tissue and bone trauma, ranging from severe infections and diabetic foot ulcers to acute fractures.
Physical Exams: Assessing joint range of motion, foot structure, and walking mechanics (gait analysis). Imaging: Reviewing digital X-rays and ultrasounds or ordering lab tests to diagnose fractures, tendonitis, or arthritis. Footwear Assessment: Reviewing wear patterns on patients' everyday sneakers or work boots to help diagnose biomechanical issues.
Dermatological Care: Trimming calluses, corns, and managing stubborn warts using freezing techniques or electric tools. Nail Procedures: In-office surgical removal of ingrown toenails (using local anesthetics) and treatment of fungal infections. Orthotic Fitting: Creating impressions or 3D scans of the feet to prescribe and fit custom shoe inserts or bracing devices.
Diabetic Wound Care: Managing, debriding, and dressing foot ulcers to prevent severe infections and amputations. Sports Medicine: Treating acute athletic injuries like sprained ankles, stress fractures, or plantar fasciitis with bracing, physical therapy, or injections. Foot Surgery: Operating on soft tissue and bone to correct deformities like bunions, hammertoes, or tendon ruptures.
Requirements
Foot and Ankle Surgery: Performing both corrective and reconstructive surgeries, such as repairing fractures, removing bone spurs, and correcting bunions. Diabetic Care & Wound Management: Monitoring patients with diabetes, which is critical for preventing serious nerve damage, infections, and lower-limb amputations. Biomechanical Assessments: Prescribing custom orthotics and designing physical therapy programs to improve balance, relieve pain, and correct walking patterns. Routine Clinical Care: Treating everyday issues like plantar fasciitis, ingrown toenails, fungal infections, and sports-related injuries.
On-call at local hospitals, every other weekend rotation
